  1.Analysis of the students

  Our students have the following issues to be resolved.
  (1)The students’ interest in learning English is not very strong, some students even have a sense of disgust;
  (2)Most students in our secondary vocational school do not have proper learning methods;
  (3)The lack of purpose that seems to be taking over the lives of many secondary vocational school students, resulting in poor learning habits.
  2.My understanding of this lesson
  This lesson is a dialogue. Both Text A and Text B relate to sports and exercise. In this period, I choose the dialogue learning as the learning focus. Studying Text A our students can improve their communication ability, learn some new words about sports and exercise in our daily life.
  3.My teaching aims
  Knowledge aim: understand the main idea of the dialogue.
  Ability aim: retell the dialogue in their own words.
  Emotional aim: Make the Ss love life and do something to make our school life more colorful and keep healthy.
  Important and difficult points:
  The words to describe one’s likes and dislikes. Improve one’s reading skills.
  Retell the dialogue in one’s own words.
  4.Teaching steps
  I have designed the following six steps to train their ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially ability.
  4.1 Step One (warming up)
  Play the song” you and me” sung by Sarah Brightman and Liu Huan to create an atmosphere. Sign the students to be quiet, then start a free talk with the students. Use computer to show some pictures of different sports, such as ball games, events of sports-track and field, sport stars as following on the screen:
  Basket ball(篮球) rugby(橄榄球) football(足球) volleyball(排球) tennis(网球) baseball(垒球) handball(手球) hockey(曲棍球) golf(高尔夫球) cricket(板球) ice hockey(冰球)
  Present some other sports on the screen:
  gymnastics(体操) horizontal bar(单杠) parallel bars(双杠) rings(吊环) trapeze(秋千) side horse(鞍马) weight-lifting(举重) boxing(拳击) judo(柔道) winter sports(冬季运动) skiing(滑雪) ice skating(溜冰) figure skating(花样滑冰)
  Ask some questions as following:
  (1)Do you like sports? Which do you like better, basketball or football?
  (2)Do you have any other hobbies? What is it or what are they?
  (3)Do you know Olympic Games? What is the Olympic spirit?
  (4)Have you ever heard of the old English saying “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy?” What do you think of the saying?
  These questions are employed to warm up the students and raise the interests of the students to speak English in class on the topics they like and familiar with.
